Best of intentions

The title could not be any truer... it was done with the best of intentions. I have seen it work, I have been told it works -I want it to work but I have seen it fail, I have heard that maybe it won't work but I have the best of intentions. Last night for FHE we talked about chores- things that the kids could do to help me around the house. I use the word help loosely b/c when your kids are learning how to do something it doesn't always get done correctly, which my hubby reminds me is not so much correctly but the way I want it to be done, which to me means correctly (we agree to disagree on this and always have) Anyway so for FHE last night we spent the evening showing, instructing, teaching the kids to do various household things such as dust, wiping the counter top and windexing the mirrors. I have seen and heard of success in other homes using the buttons as payment reward system. This is what we are trying. I am paying my children in buttons they put in a jar on my fridge to after some saving they can buy (with buttons) a pre-determined reward such as video gaming on a school day (which is not allowed at our house- I am so mean- just ask my kids!), purchasing a toy from the $ store (not using the buttons but money I exchange the buttons for) and the top prize a night out with either Mom or Dad and I am sure I know who will be chosen for that prize but I put myself as an option just in case maybe Dad is sick or something!! So wish me luck - I swear someone told me this worked for them I just can't think of who!

  1. Me Me....it worked, for a while. Until the mom got busy (lazy) and forgot to reward the children for their chores. Now I just bring out the whip.
